My new favorite “it’s cold quote”

This was from Dave Canterbury of “Dual Survival” when they were out in Montana.

“It’s colder than a tin toilet seat on the shady side of an iceberg”

Why can’t I ever think of stuff like that to say when my sacks freezin.

Finally, some real news- Craig Biggio still a Champion

craig biggioI’m an Astros fan, so naturally this caught my eye. Biggio was the hardest playing sum bitch I’ve ever seen. I’m not kidding, that guy was full sprint to the bag every play even if the ball was there waitin on him. He proved what your coaches said is true that if you hustle you can MAKE plays happen. I loved when he was an Astro. The Killer B’s were awesome to watch, Bagwell is an icon and Chris Burke is one of my favorite (ex)Astros. It’s awesome as well that his sons play on the same team he coaches and the first two years he was there they won the championship off of their homeruns. Other than Leo I don’t have any kids but I can only imagine how proud of a father you’d have to be. It’s not as grandioso as the Manning family where a Super Bowl winning father gets to watch BOTH his sons win a Super Bowl in back to back years. That doesn’t mean one day it won’t be though.

Aussie student finds universe’s ‘missing mass’

I said it before, call me a nerd but stuff like this interests me. This 22 year old girl found something that scientists have been searching for over 20 years. Granted the technology only recently got invented (few years) but it was still her idea to look there in the first place. It just goes to show what a pair of fresh eyes, and a new perspective can add to the equation. Can you say job security?

Funny

I was just driving to the store listening to xm radio, chewing some gum. I love the comedy stations most of the people are funny as hell so I just leave it on comedy most time. I put the gum in my mouth before I left and didn’t take the pack with me. I can’t remember why but when he said that joke there was some reason I couldn’t laugh normally for fear of losing the gum and not having more with me. Bad idea. If it had been physically possible to shoot shit out of my ears it would have. Needless to say just because you’re not gonna laugh normal it’s still gonna happen. Stuff came out if everything it could short of releasing my bowels. My eyes watered up and I could barely make out the road. I probably looked like a zombie. The moral of the story is take your gum with you or don’t listen to comedy.

Top Ten American Idol Performances- My favorite

This performance was awesome. I’m not the biggest fan in the world (I’m a Dancing w/the Stars man) but I do enjoy some Idol from time to time. Kelli Clarkson rocked the shit too but this one was by far the most original I’ve seen on the show. I included a link to the whole list below and another for a post knockin the producers for “same ole s@*t” out of Idol.

Finally some camping

CampsiteSo i finally found a remote place where nobody would find me (and doesn’t cost $17 a day) to camp. I found it online and it looked like exactly what I hoped for. just to backtrack a tiny bit this was actually the second time I did this, since the first time it snowed almost immediately upon setting up camp and destroyed the tent I had just bought. I bought a Coleman Hooligan 4 tent for a pretty nice price, and it’s a great tent when it’s not pissin snow outside. I had a bunch of food, a wrecked tent and spirit and was forced to come home the first day. Thanks to that liberal return policy at Sports Authority I was back in business and returning now for this story.

Outside-In

I just wanted to make a quick post about how nice it was at Roosevelt National Forest. The campgrounds were on the river and I had a different site both nights. The first night I had a walk up tent camping site on the furthest east end of the campground. While I was lying in my tent I couldn't help but notice just how nice the view was so I took some pictures. Looking out the front of the tent you saw:

 Roosevelt National Park

Looking into the tent you would have seen:  Continue reading “Outside-In” »

On my way

Headed out around 2pm from east Houston. Despite multiple missed turns and dog vomit I made it all the way to Amarillo tx. That’s roughly 800 miles today. I would rather have done that then have a big drive the second day. Everyone kept saying it’ll take until mid-Wednesday but it’s only another 8 1/2 hrs so I plan on being there Tuesday evening. Most people underestimate the size of Texas. It’s closer to drive from Houston to Chicago than to cross Texas from side to side. Lovin that $4 a gallon gas too.
